Based on a novel by Eiichi Nakata, Takahiro Miki’s “Kuchibiru ni Uta wo” “Have a Song on Your Lips” gives this familiar formula a couple of tweaks, first by casting inexperienced young teens as members of a junior high chorus club, instead of the usual “idol” actors several years older. Second, their coach, Yuri Kashiwagi Yui Aragaki, is not a typical inspiring mentor, but a sullen substitute teacher still reeling from the sudden collapse of her career as a concert pianist.
